NIU College of Law and Lincoln College form a new partnership to build a pipeline

Northern Illinois University College of Law announces a new partnership to create the Lincoln College Lincoln Scholar and Diversity Pipeline Programmes.

Students from Lincoln College who are pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law may be eligible to join the NIU Law Diversity Pipeline Program. The Diversity Pipeline Program will involve working with a specific cohort of students, from freshman year to senior. The program is intended to expose students to all aspects of law school and to be a practicing lawyers. It also provides mentorship and LSAT preparation. Students will have the chance to experience life as law students by participating in field trips.

Cassandra L. Hill of NIU Law stated, “Our goal is to make sure that diverse students are aware of the benefits and careers in legal education and have the information necessary to be successful in law school applications and in law school.” “It’s a great opportunity for us all to work together to improve diversity in the legal profession.”

NIU College of Law will award an exceptional Lincoln graduate each year with the NIU Law Lincoln Scholar title. This distinction is based on academic performance and eligibility. NIU Law Lincoln Scholar Program can help further the NIU College of Law’s commitment towards diversity by positively impacting both legal education as well as the legal field.

NIU College of Law will continue to facilitate access to the law for members of traditionally underrepresented groups by countering the effects of societal discrimination, increasing lawyers who will serve communities that are currently in need, and obtaining education benefits for our students that flow from a diverse faculty.
